How your help is used to support young people
The cost of drug use for problem drug users has been put at £11,000 per head. When social costs are added in e.g. local community care, health care etc, these costs are trebled (based on Drug Advisory Prevention Service figures).
Health Through Sport, in addition to helping victims of drug and alcohol misuse, also targets young people and adults from a variety of marginalised and disadvantaged backgrounds, many of whom have had difficulties in accessing mainstream opportunities.
The charity has links with Active City, Liverpool City Council, Merseyside Police Authority, Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Everton Football Club, Liverpool Football Club, Primary Care Trust and Taste for Health.
In addition, its work has been endorsed by Lord Grantchester, Bill Kenwright, Joe Royle (Patron), Dr David France, Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson and Peter Mitchell.
In order to carry out our work, Health Through Sport is reliant upon grant funding, donations, the generosity of individuals and fundraising activities such as our bi-annual Sportsperson’s Dinners (held at the Devonshire House Hotel in Liverpool).
However, the cost of providing support to those most in need continues to escalate. As an ever increasing burden is placed on the charity, our plans to expand into more areas of Merseyside are being placed in jeopardy.
If you feel that you, your company or organisation can make a financial contribution to such a worthwhile cause, we will be extremely grateful.
Rest assured all donations are put to the most effective use possible delivering the charity’s aims and objectives. Check out our Projects page to see the valuable work undertaken to-date.
